Yuli Minguel

After the impressive theatrical piece “Lost Innocence” (about the Dutch childcare benefits scandal), Soul Queen Yuli Minguel presents her latest muscial theatre production, A Queen’s Soul.

British media icon Simon Cowell describes Yuli Minguel as a mix between Tina Turner and Bette Midler. A Queen’s Soul is a moving musical portrait of a vulnerable Soul Queen struggling with the unbearable loss of her daughter, under the pressure of the Dutch child protection services, “Veilig Thuis.” The performance reveals the spirit of racially profiled Netherlands in 2024, through captivating music.

During the performance, the audience witnesses the inner and musical transformation of Yuli Minguel, one of the most open and authentic singers in the Netherlands. Known from IDOLS season 1 and the Justin Timberlake tour, Yuli transforms from an entertainment-focused soul singer to an artist who embodies “soul” as the ultimate life source to survive the inhumane attacks of the government on her family. With live musicians, each a master of their instrument, and Yuli’s dynamic voice that ranges from honey-sweet to raw, this performance promises to be a magical evening.

Yuli Minguel has lived like a phoenix within the Dutch system for over 30 years. Born in Heerlen, with parents from Curaçao, she has embraced and battled the world around her. Despite repeated setbacks in her dealings with youth care, the music industry, the tax authorities, and the police, she has continually risen again through her music.

Following a successful tour as an actress and a victim of the childcare benefits scandal with the theater piece Lost Innocence by Volhouders Zuid in collaboration with Rotterdams Wijktheater, Yuli now brings A Queen’s Soul.

Career highlights include backing vocals for Mariah Carey, the musical Hair, and X Factor UK. Don’t miss this unique experience of soul as an essential source of life.
