Nedvang

Nedvang literally stands for ‘Netherlands from Waste to Resource’. They register and stimulate the collection and recycling of all packaging waste in the Netherlands. In doing so, they pay attention to quality, quantity and yield. With reliable figures, targeted expertise and a broad network, Nedvang supports municipalities and waste companies in optimizing their performance. This is how they work towards a future-proof recycling chain for packaging. Whether it’s a jar of gel, soup can or wine bottle: packaging waste can become raw material again. A circular economy for packaging requires cooperation, knowledge and innovation. On behalf of the packaging industry, Nedvang is committed to this. Together they bring the Netherlands from waste to raw material.

The countless lives of glass
Every bottle or jar can be recycled an infinite number of times, without loss of quality. This saves raw materials and energy compared to the production of new glass from sand, lime and soda. As much as 86% of glass packaging in the Netherlands is recycled.

From packaging to raw material
All bottles and jars that end up in the bottle bank are transported to a recycling company for processing. In addition, some bottles are used several more times before they are recycled. The cullet is sorted and recycled into raw materials so that new glass packaging can be made from it. This saves raw materials as well as energy.

Towards 90% glass recycling
While 86% glass recycling is a great score, it needs to be even better. After all, the national target is 90%. That is why Nedvang is working hard to achieve even better results. We are doing this with research into technical possibilities and innovations, projects with municipalities and companies and with the Glass in a Bin campaign. At the bottom of this page you can see some of our activities to stimulate the collection and recycling of glass.
