Dans aan de Vliet – Dance and culture
‘Dans aan de Vliet’ was founded in 2009 by Mira Moreno. She is a classical ballet teacher and she graduated from the ballet academy in Sofia. Of course, dance takes centre stage at ‘Dans aan de Vliet’. But why dance? Dance is natural, it comes effortlessly. When you hear good music you’ll already start moving. Therefore dance is very accessible for young people and it can serve as a stepping stone to other cultural activities. Through dance you automatically come across music, poetry, theatre, visual arts and film.
‘Dans aan de Vliet’ aims to introduce children and teenagers to dance at an early age, but not only dance. They strive to encourage people of all ages to attend performances, visit exhibitions and broaden their horizons for their personal development. Anyone, regardless of age, can take up dancing, start taking part in a course or workshop, participate in a performance: your body is your instrument and you can tune it as you desire. It’s a healthy activity, it’s social and educational.
Since 2015 I’ve been part of the creative volunteer team of ‘Dans aan de Vliet’.
